Trinity

TRINITY (TRansmission system enhancement of regioNal borders by means of IntelligenT market technologY) was a European Commission project under the Horizon 2020 program. TRINITY project consisted of 19 partners from 11 countries. The project started in October 2020 and lasted for 48 months.

The main goal of the project was to develop a set of solutions to improve cooperation and coordination among the transmission system operators of the South East European region in order to support the integration of the electricity markets in the region, whilst promoting higher penetration of clean energies. The three main drivers of the project objectives, i.e. Market integration, TSOs coordination and RES promotion – were directly covered by three of the TRINITY products (T-MARKET COUPLING FRAMEWORK, T-SENTINEL TOOLSET and T-RES CONTROL CENTRE), which interacted together thanks to the fourth project result, the T-COORDINATION PLATFORM.

SCC contributed to this project using its expertise and knowledge of South East European transmission systems. Based on extensive experience in the Regional Security Coordinator business, SCC took part in Work Package 2 (Project foundations), Work Package 6 (Coordination and Communication platform) where SCC, in partnership with RTE international,  made a great contribution to the development of the Coordination and Communication platform for CCC, CSA, CGS, and Consistency Assessment of System Defence and Restoration Plans, which facilitated the daily work for all project participants, and in Work Package 7 (Integration and Demonstration activities). Likewise, SCC was involved in the other parts of the project related to cross-border net transfer capacities, security analysis and regional adequacy. Finally, SCC provided the Demonstration Activity Manager who coordinated all demonstration activities related to the project deliverables.
